Aldo Ferrucci is one of the major professional international experts using closed-circuit and semi rebreathers for SCUBA diving. He instructs, trains, leads and participates in underwater diving and exploration of deep seas, wrecks and caves.

Aldo Ferrucci started diving in 1976 in Italy. He came into contact with technical diving in the early nineties and was instrumental in introducing technical diving to Italy and France.

He later proceeded to rebreather diving in 1996, in the same year he started up his own technical diving school in France teaching a broad scope of technical applications from nitrox to rebreather training for divers and instructors under the major technical agencies banners.

He became TDI Instructor trainer in 1997 and since 2003 he' s been the regional manager for TDI & SDI for Italy and Switzerland.

Aldo also alongside teaching dives deep wrecks and since 2000 he has organized diving expeditions all over the world with his ' Xpedition Team' including the first Italian Andrea Doria Expedition. From 2002 onwards Aldo has also focused his professional activities on testing and teaching SCR and CCR rebreathers.

Aldo Ferrucci was born in Livorno Italy on June 4th 1958 and began his young underwater activities with Spearfishing.Starting with Scuba diving at the age of 18 he continued his underwater career to the beginning of the 90' s and obtained the first title of Instructor Trainer.

In 1994 he attended a course in diving Nitrox mixtures other than air which becomes his main professional focus with first courses and semi-closed rebreather. Assumes the status of rebreather Instructor Trainer of the most popular on the international market, and specializes and contributes to innovation in this area which makes Aldo Ferrucci one of the major international experts using the closed-circuit rebreathers and semi rebreathers.

He attended classes with the world' s leading experts in technical diving and becomes in turn Trimix Instructor Trainer of the major international educational agencies.

The gas mixtures together with the passion for wreck diving led him to perform on the main dive sites in the world, organizing and participating in person in several diving expeditions including the considered as "Mt. Everest of diving" Andrea Doria Shipwreck: "Andrea Doria", "Viminale", "Dornier 24", "Leopoldville". "Pietro Micca" "Rosalie Moller", "Scapa Flow", "Benghazi", "San Marco", "Proteus", "Natal", etc.

In 1999 participates in the drafting of the law governing diving Nitrox and Trimix in France and as of2004he receives the assignment of responsibility for Technical Diving of the French National Association Underwater Instructors.

From the beginning of 2001 deals mainly Underwater Photography of Wrecks with use of professional equipment at great depths.

Regularly publishes articles about shipwrecks and technical / teaching diving for major national magazines in France, Belgium, Switzerland, England and the United States.

Since 2003 he is the ' task manager' for the Head of the Italian teaching TDI / SDI with the title of Regional Manager in the territorial areas of Italy and Switzerland.

In 2004 participates actively in the creation of documentaries for television in Italy and France, reaching from 2006 to today in the post of "Dive Safety Officer" during the shooting of the film by Jacques Perrin Oceans destined for big screen (film release expected in October 2009), in addition to undertaking shooting for the underwater scenes.

" The first NAUI TRIMIX instructor course held in Europe took place at Cavalaire in France during May 1999. The course was organised by Aldo FERRUCCI Director of BUBBLE OR NOT BUBBLE based in Nice. NAUI Worldwide created in 1997 NAUI Technical Operation. The board of Directors members are probably the most qualified people in the world for Technical Diving : Jim BOWDEN (holds the depth world record), Ann KRISTOWICH, Bill HAMILTON, Peter READY, Billy DEANS, Tim O' LEARY, Bruce WIENKE are just a few of them."

http://www.watalibi.com/places.htm Cavalaire is the place to go for wreck diving on the south coast of France though nearby dive centers or centers around Marseille can also take you on wrecks. Here wrecks start at 20 meters and then all depth down to 100 meters. Several dive shops stand on the harbour. I dive with l' PERLAN (with Momo and Georges) because this center is the home of BUBNOTBUB, the technical diving school of my friend Aldo Ferrucci, who is an Inspiration instructor. When Aldo is around (most often when he is not organizing deep wrecks expedition) you can get oxygen, nitrox and trimix; check for the availability of sofnolime. CCR Diving is getting popular there so things are getting easier with Aldo and Momo to take you down with your turtle to the beautiful wrecks around Cavalaire."

BRIEF TECHNICAL BACKGROUND TO UNDERWATER SCUBA DIVING :
(for more details on international organisations and certifications on my other webpages)

Starting with Leonardo da Vinci - culminating in Nitrox-Trimix ! :

Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century (1452-1519). designed the first underwater breathing apparatus - improved on in the 19th century 1825 when an aqualung for compressed air was outlined by the English engineer, William James. Additional designs by Emile Gagnon and Jacques Cousteau in the 20th century 1943.
The first known systematic use of rebreathers for diving was by Italian sport spearfishers in the 1930s. 1940s US Navy rebreathers were developed by Dr. Christian J. Lambertsen "the father of Frogmen"

BENEFITS OF MODERN REBREATHER SYSTEMS:

With previous compressed air dive open circuit equipment used for recreational diving, bubbles of air resulted spoiling visibility and disturbing surrounding fishes and fauna.

Length and depth of dives affected by type of gas supply used, compressed air typical of Open Circuit allow less depth and diving time than closed circuit systems.
Approximately

Open Circuit40 minutes to 1 hour

Semi Circuit1 to 2 hours,

Close Circuit3 to 6 hours.

With REBREATHER technology dives can be deeper longer and lighter.

NITROX-TRIMIX mixture is considered the best healthiest gas in SCUBA diving. It was previously used by only specialist and military divers but is now available at comparatively equal or competitive prices as compared to the more open circuit breathing gases previously used by recreational divers.

Types of Rebreathers:

CCR : Inspiration, Evolution, Megalodon, Copis, Kiss, rEvo, Ouroboros and Sentinel.

SCR : Dolphin, Azimuth, Submatix and UBS 40
